DePauw's Season Comes to End at NCAA Regional

Bloomington, Ill. - Thomas More scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings and held on for a 2-1 win over DePauw in an elimination game of the Bloomington, Illinois, Regional of the NCAA Division III Softball Championship. The Tigers finished their season at 23-22, while the Saints stayed alive and improved to 32-15.

The Tigers gained a 1-0 lead in the fourth as Jordyn Fera led off with a double and moved to third on Sidney Holler's sacrifice bunt. Breanna DeYoung entered as a pinch-hitter and Sarah Beischer as a runner at third. DeYoung successfully executed a squeeze bunt that scored Beischer.

Thomas More came back in the top of the fifth with Laure Finke singling with one out and stealing second. Finke moved to third when Dallis Knotts flied out and then scored on Alix DeDreu's single through the middle. Andrea Graham followed with a single, but the inning ended when Holler picked off DeDreu at second.

Amanda Lloyd led off the Thomas More sixth with a single and advanced to third on Sammy Sagers' double. Kenzi Dickerson followed with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Lloyd and giving the Saints a 2-1 lead.

Holler and Becca St. Germain each singled with two outs in the sixth, but a ground out ended the threat.

The Tigers had a chance in the bottom of the seventh as Kat Panos led off with a single and moved to second on Kathleen Byers' sacrifice bunt. After Abey Bass flied out, Liz Getz singled just past the shortop and into short left field. Panos tried to score but was caught in a rundown and called out trying to return to third which ended the game.

St. Germain had two of DePauw's seven hits, while Knotts had three of Thomas More's nine.

Brooke Bandy slipped to 3-2 with the loss, while DeDreu improved to 23-6.
