DePauw Finishes Third at Own Invitational

Greencastle, Ind. - Three individual wins and another in a relay helped DePauw to 119 points and a third-place finish among seven schools at the DePauw Invitational. Rose-Hulman won with 218 points and Wabash was second with 142.

The Tigers picked up 25 points in the 800 meters led by Sam Voelz's third-straight win in the event during the outdoor season. Voelz crossed in 1:59.53, while Zach Batt was second (2:01.00), Pierce Sheehan fifth (2:02.52) and Cole Martin sixth (2:02.91).

DePauw took the top two spots in the 1,500 meters paced by Zach Batt's win in 3:59.72 and Voelz's second in 4:03.89. The Tigers' other individual win came in the pole vault as Tyler Nemeth led the field at 4.30m/14-1.25.

Chase Wright led DePauw in the 100 meters with a second (11.15) with Jacob Avenaim placing third (11.20). Wright was also sixth in the 200 meters (23.12), while Dante Stewart was seventh (23.17).

The Tigers picked up 17 points in the 5,000 meters as Samuel Meyer was second (16:27.44), Kyle Munz fourth (16:39.46) and Aaron Worley fifth (16:43.67).

Luke Patty placed third in the 400 meters (49.99) with Nate Baker finishing fourth in the hammer throw (45.25m/148-5). Demarco Henry led the Tigers in the discus with a sixth-place finish (42.10m/138-1), while Lucas Taylor was ninth (38.39m/125-11).

The Tigers' 4 x 400 relay won in 3:25.63 and the 4 x 100 relay was fourth (44.09).

DePauw returns to action when it hosts the Indiana Division III Championships on Saturday, April 14.
