DePauw Now 8-0 in NCAC Following Sweep at Allegheny

Meadville, Pa. - DePauw moved its overall record to 14-15 and stayed perfect in the North Coast Athletic Conference at 8-0 with a sweep at Allegheny by scores of 12-2 and 5-2. The Gators slipped to 10-11 overall and 4-4 in the NCAC.

In the opener, Allegheny gained a 1-0 lead in the first as Hayley Behr singled with two outs and scored on Jessica Zavolta's double.

DePauw evened the score in the second on Liz Getz's RBI grounder the plated Mina Shaw and took the lead when Becca St. Germain reached on an error that allowed Jordyn Fera to score.

The Tigers added four unearned runs in the third, single runs in the fourth and fifth and four in the sixth before the game ended after six due to the eight-run rule.

Fera led DePauw with three of its nine hits, while Getz followed with two. Three different Gators collected one hit apiece.

Emma Baldwin improved to 5-7 with the three-hit, complete game, while Kala Mahen dropped to 4-6.

In the nightcap, the first three DePauw batters reached before Lauren Godden delivered a sacrifice fly and Fera drove in one with a sacrifice bunt.

Allegheny evened the score in the second as Kyleigh Cason scored on an error as Maria Didonato stole second. Kelly Lafferty then followed with an RBI single.

The game remained tied until the seventh before DePauw scored three in the top half of the inning. Sidney Holler led off with a single and pinch-runner Mina Shaw moved to second on Alyssa Nowak's single. Kat Panos advanced each runner with a sacrifice bunt before Laylyn Linder singled home Shaw. Godden drove in two with a two-out single.

Linder led DePauw with two of its seven hits, while Lafferty had two of Allegheny's six hits.

Julia Bork improved to 5-6 with with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, while Victoria Vradenburg dropped to 3-1.

DePauw travels to Oberlin tomorrow for an 11 a.m. NCAC doubleheader.
