Tigers Stay Perfect in NCAC with Sweep of Ohio Wesleyan

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw remained perfect in North Coast Athletic Conference play following a doubleheader sweep of visiting Ohio Wesleyan by scores of 6-3 and 5-1. The Tigers are now 12-15 overall with eight wins in their last nine games and moved to 6-0 in NCAC play. The Battling Bishops slipped to 8-8 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

In the opener, Ohio Wesleyan jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first as Madison Bridger led off with a single, moved to second on a ground out and scored when Madi Drabick reached on a throwing error. Drabick later scored on Kayla Richard's single to left.

DePauw answered in the bottom half of the inning as Alyssa Nowak singled and Jordyn Fera hammered a two-run homer to center. Lauren Godden followed with a double and Becca St. Germain slammed a homer to left. Liz Getz followed with a single before stealing second and third and scoring on an error to make it 5-2.

Ohio Wesleyan closed the gap to 5-3 in the third on Aimee Duckworth's single that plated Drabick.

The Tigers' final run came in the bottom of the third as St. Germain reached on a two-out error before Getz singled and Sidney Holler delivered an RBI single.

DePauw retired 13 of the Battling Bishops' final 14 batters to wrap up the win.

St. Germain and Getz each had two of DePauw's eight hits, while Duckworth had two of the Bishops' six hits.

Julia Bork improved to 4-6, while starter Brooke Bandy picked up her first save after re-entering in the circle. Drabick dropped to 4-2.

In the nightcap, DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the first as Fera led off with a single, moved to second on a passed ball, to third on a grounder and scored when Kathleen Byers grounded out.

St. Germain's RBI single in the third scored pinch-runner Mina Shaw and gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

DePauw extended its lead to 5-0 in the fifth on an RBI single from Godden and a two-run single by Holler.

Godden and St. Germain each had two of DePauw's nine hits. while five different Ohio Wesleyan players collected one hit apiece.

Devin Pieper improved to 3-2, while Emma Baldwin collected her first save. Erica Buchanan dropped to 0-3.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 14, with an NCAC doubleheader at Oberlin.
