Three Firsts Drive DePauw to Classic Title

Greencastle, Ind. - Paced by three firsts, DePauw totaled 104 points and won the DePauw Classic by five points over Wabash. Wittenberg was third with 77.

Picking up individual wins for the Tigers were Luke Patty in the 200 meters (23.13), Lucas Coleman in the 1,000 meters (3:03.84) and Polo Burguete in the 3,000 meters (8:40.53).

In all, the Tigers picked up 26 points in the 200 meters as Chase Wright was second (23.14), Jordan Booker fourth (23.34) and Satchel Oskins sixth (23.46). 

They also collected 25 points in the 3,000 meters as Cole Martin was third (8:43.03), Zach Batt fourth (8:46.28) and Paul Christian fifth (8:47.31).

Booker also was second in the 400 meters (51.83)  as was Tyler Nemeth in the pole vault (3.95m/12-11.5).

Finishing fifth in the weight throw was Andrew Saunders (14.19m/46-6.75) with Nate Baker posting a sixth-place finish (14.12m/46-6.75). Samuel Meyer placed sixth in the 5,000 meters (16:25.94), while Aaron Worley was eighth (16:48.96). 

DePauw totaled five points in the 60 meters as Jacob Avenaim was sixth (7.23) and Chase Wright seventh (7.25), while Jarrod Stiver was sixth in the long jump (6.10m/20-00.25).

The Tigers' 4 x 400 relay was fifth in 3:55.67.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, February 24, when it competes in Anderson University's Fred Wilt Invitational.
