DePauw Rallies for Third-Place Finish at NCAC Championships

Granville, Ohio - DePauw totaled 1,155 points and finished third at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. Denison won with 1,908 and Kenyon was second with 1,797.5. The Tigers were one point ahead of Wabash's 1,154.

Charlie Stewart-Bates was DePauw's top finisher in the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:34.26), while David Freund was 13th (16:53.71).

Alex Murlin posted a sixth-place finish in the 100 individual medley (52.91) with Andrew Byerly placing ninth (53.97) and Ryan Smith 12th (55.36).

Adam Pircon was fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:52.25) before four Tigers were in the top 14 of the 100 free led by Aidan Schurig in ninth (46.41), Will Serf in 12th (46.77), Kurt Swieter in 13th (46.77) and Sam Wagner 14th (46.81).

Sam McManus earned his second all-conference honor of the meet after finishing second in the 200 breaststroke (2:01.40), while Mitchell Davis was tied for seventh (2:06.18).

In the 200 butterfly, four DePauw swimmers were in the top 18 paced by Josh McCown in 10th (1:54.36), Ian Longan in 12th (1:56.06), Max Steffey in 16th (1:59.05) and Zach Johns 18th (2:02.38).

DePauw's 400 free relay of Schurig, Serf, Wagner and Swieter finished the meet and secured third place by finishing third in 3:04.23.
