Tigers Remain in Third with One Day Left at NCAC Championships; McManus Takes 100 Breast Title

Granville, Ohio - Paced by Sam McManus' win in the 100-yard breaststroke, DePauw remained in third place after three days of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. The Tigers have totaled 752.5 points with Denison leading with 1284.5 and Kenyon 1278.5.

McManus, who entered the meet with the top Division III time in the 100 breast, topped the field in 54.95 seconds, while Mitchell Davis was ninth (58.38/57.79 prelims).

Alex Murlin was 10th in the 400 individual medley (4:10.90) with Josh McCown finishing 13th (4:14.57/4:14.33 prelims) and Brad Leftwich 18th (4:18.98).

Ian Longan was the Tigers' top finisher in two events including 14th in the 100 backstroke (53.64/53.34 prelims) and 13th in the 100 butterfly (52.03/51.64 prelims). Max Steffey was 17th in the 100 fly (52.80/52.74) and Zach Johns 18th (53.35/52.59 prelims). Kurt Swieter paced DePauw in the 200 freestyle with a 12th-place showing (1:41.21), while Adam Pircon was 15th (1:42.74).

The Tigers' 200 medley relay of Murlin, Davis, Longan and Aidan Schurig was fourth in 1:32.91.

The Championships wrap up on Saturday with prelims starting at 10 a.m.
