Tigers in Third at Phoenix Fall Classic; Pircon Breaks School 200 Back Record

Chicago, Ill. - Through two days of the Phoenix Fall Classic, 23rd-ranked DePauw has 468 points and is in third place. Host University of Chicago leads with 888 points, while Lewis is second with 511.

DePauw's 200-yard medley relay of Seth Fagen, Xavier Fuller, Ian Longan and Will Serf tied for eighth in 1:36.29.

Tommy Hackley posted a fifth-place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:41.24), while Charlie Stewart-Bates was eighth (4:46.05) and Jack Christie ninth (4:48.01).

Adam Pircon was fifth in the 200 backstroke (1:51.14) after swimming a school-record 1:50.69 in the prelims. Fagen was eighth (1:55.82) in the event and Peter Hollington was ninth (2:01.02/1:59.15 prelim).

Josh McCown was sixth in the 200 individual medley (1:57.31) as was Ben Hilfinger in the 200 butterfly (1:54.16). Also in the 200 IM McCown was seventh (1:55.38) and Longan eighth (1:55.49).

The 800 free relay of Matt Wilson, Pircon, Serf and Jake Frech was third (6:57.14).

Competition wraps up with Sunday's prelims and finals.
