Tigers Wrap up NCAC Play with 3-0 Win over Battling Bishops

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw hit .352 for the match including over .300 in each of the three sets on the way to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-19) North Coast Athletic Conference win over Ohio Wesleyan. The Tigers improved to 15-8 overall and finished NCAC play at 7-1 to earn the second seed in next weekend's conference tournament. The Battling Bishops dropped to 10-13 overall and 4-4 in NCAC play.

The Tigers led by as many as eight in the opening set before Ohio Wesleyan scored four straight to close the DePauw lead to 23-20. Kills by Suzanne Peters and Liv Hartman wrapped up the set for DePauw. DePauw got out to a 10-1 lead in the second before extending the lead to double digits to take a 2-0 lead. 

The Battling Bishops opened the third set with a 9-7 lead before DePauw scored six straight and 10 of the next 12, The Bishops were back within two at 20-18, but DePauw scored four straight to take control.

DePauw outhit Ohio Wesleyan, .352-.073 and held a 41-28 edge in kills. Peters led with 12 kills, while Stearley and Hartman each added 11. Hartman hit .444 in the win.

Ally Low assisted on 35 of the kills, while Jenna Purichia recorded four aces and 14 digs. The Tigers finished with 7.0 team blocks and were paced by five block assists from Corri Rusk.

The Tigers travel to WashU for Friday and Saturday matches at the Baden Invite and open play on Friday against Wartburg at 3 p.m. CDT.
