Late Goal Propels Tigers to Win

Box Score

Greencastle, Ind. -- A low scoring affair broke open in the 78th minute as DePauw freshman Joe Scanlon connected on his first collegiate goal for DePauw to send them to a 1-0 win over Rose-Hulman on Wednesday.

In a game that looked destined to end scoreless at the end of regulation, DePauw made their last shot count. With the ball on the left side of the field Justin Mitchell inched it closer to the middle to Doug Bannon, and Bannon found Scanlon who launched a shot from the top of circle to score with 11:06 remaining in regulation.

Rose-Hulman controlled the majority of possession for the remainder of the game but could not score on either of the two shots they took. DePauw ended up outshooting Rose-Hulman 9-6.

Ben Davis made three saves in net to secure the shutout. He and the Tigers move to 3-2-1 on the year. Rose-Hulman drops to 4-2-1 on the year.

DePauw starts NCAC action Saturday when they travel to Wooster.
