Tigers Sweep Sunday Competition; Take Three Out of Four at Illinois Wesleyan Tournament

Bloomington, Ill. - DePauw wrapped up play at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament with three wins including today's 8-3 victory over Anderson and a 5-2 win over the 23rd-ranked hosts. The Tigers moved to 8-14 with the wins.

Anderson jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first with an unearned run, but the Tigers scored five in the second. Liz Getz triples home Sarah Beischer and then scored on Julia Bork's double. Andi Sarkisian's single plated Bork before Megan Montgomery drove in Sarkisian and Gabby Smart with a single.

Anderson closed the gap to 5-3 in the third on RBI singles from Joslyn Leverett and Lexi Gray, but DePauw sealed the victory with three in the sixth.

Getz led off with a double and moved to third on Abey Bass' bunt single. Pinch-hitter Kat Panos singled home Getz before pinch-hitter Bekka Roberts drove in Bass with a ground out. Sarkisian, who pinch-ran for Panos, scored when Montgomery reached on an error.

DePauw totaled nine hits paced by Getz's three. Gray had two of the Ravens' seven hits.

Emma Baldwin improved to 3-5 after pitching four innings of scoreless relief. Rachel Fiscus dropped to 5-3.

Illinois Wesleyan grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first of the Tigers' second game as Maggie Graham singled home Sydney Alery.

The Tigers countered in the bottom of the first as Smart walked and Montgomery doubled her to third. Lauren Godden then singled home Smart. DePauw took a 2-1 lead in the second as Sarkisian scored after an Illinois Wesleyan error.

DePauw added another unearned run in the fourth before Montgomery doubled in Smart in the fifth and scored on Godden's grounder.

Smart, Montgomery and Bass each had two of DePauw's nine hits, while Shelby Fulk had two of the Titans' eight hits.

Bandy improved to 3-8 and Baldwin collected her second save. Brea Walker dropped to 5-2 with the loss for Illinois Wesleyan. 

DePauw travels to Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday, April 11, for a 3:30 p.m. North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader.
