Tigers Can't Hold Lead; Lose Twinbill to Emory

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Atlanta, Ga. - After losing today's first game at Emory, 9-1 in five innings, DePauw seemed poised for a doubleheader split, but Emory rallied for seven in the bottom of the seventh for a 7-6 nightcap victory. DePauw dropped to 3-13 with the losses, while Emory improved to 19-9.

In the opener, Emory scored four in the third as Jessie Micahael drove in one with a single and Janelle Turnquest plated three with a double.

That lead reached 6-0 in the fourth after Jenna Wilson scored on a wild pitch and Ashley Powers singled in Lana Hermann.

DePauw's lone run came in the fifth as Abey Bass singled, stole second and moved to third on Liz Getz's sacrifice bunt. Pinch-hitter Mina Shaw then delivered a two-out, run-scoring single to left.

The Eagles ended the game due to the run rule in the bottom of the fifth as Amy Wray, who led off the inning with a walk, scored after a DePauw throwing error. Kinsey Glasgow finished it with a two-run single.

Bass had two of DePauw's four hits, while Michael, Turnquest and Sam Vincent each had two of Emory's 10 hits.

Brooke Bandy dropped to 0-8 in the circle, while Toko Miller improved to 4-3.

In the second contest, Lauren Godden got DePauw off to a 1-0 lead in the first with a single that scored Megan Montgomery. The Tigers added five in the fourth as Sidney Holler and Bass each drove in one with bunts before Getz hit a two-run triple and then scored on Bekka Roberts' ground out.

DePauw took the 6-0 lead into the seventh, but Emory rallied for seven runs. Ashley Powers led off with a walk and scored on Cassie Baca's double. Taylor Forte reached on an error and later scored on a DePauw error after Wray singled.

A pair of base hits loaded the bases and Sarah Flanders cut the lead to 6-3 with a single. Greta Wilker reached on an error that allowed two Eagles to score before Baca ended the game with a sacrifice fly.

Godden had two of DePauw's five hits, while Baca had two of Emory's 10.

Emma Baldwin dropped to 1-4 with the relief loss, while Brittany File improved to 8-4.

DePauw opens North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday as it hosts Wooster in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
