Chicago, Ill. - Paced by a pair of firsts and NCAA "B" cuts by Sam McManus, DePauw totaled 642 points and finished second at the Phoenix Fall Classic at University of Chicago. The host Maroons won with 1,097 points.

McManus broke his own school record with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke in 54.31 seconds before taking first in the 200 breast in 1:59.86. He also was 16th in the 50 free in 23.52. The Tigers' other win came in the 50 free as Aidan Schurig won in 20.96 seconds.

Mitchell Davis turned in three top-five performances including third in the 400-yard individual medley (4:11.41), fourth in the 100 breast (56.96) and fifth in the 200 IM (1:55.53).

Marcus Carter-Buckman was third in the 100 backstroke (52.18), fourth in the 100 free (47.08) and ninth in the 200 free (1:44.38), while Charlie Stewart-Bates was second in the 1,650 free (16:31.69), fifth in the 500 free (4:44.98) and 12th in the 200 free (1:45.90).

Also finishing second was Kurt Swieter in the 200 free (1:41.37) in addition to a sixth in the 500 free (4:45.94) and 16th in the 100 free (48.91). Adam Pircon had a couple of top-four finishes with a third in the 200 backstroke (1:53.86) and fourth in the 200 free (1:42.92). Rounding out the Tigers' fourth-place finishers was Eric Addy in 1-meter diving with 406.25 points. Addy also was eighth on the 3-meter board with 368.75 points.

A pair of DePauw's five relays placed second as the 800 free relay of McManus, Pircon, Swieter and Stewart-Bates finished in 6:53.72 and the 400 free relay of Carter-Buckman, McManus, Sam Wagner and Swieter touched in 3:06.24.

DePauw returns to action on December 2 at the pentathlon meet at Wabsh with Butler and IUPUI.
