Tigers Open Season with Fifth-Place Finish at Indiana Intercollegiates

West Lafayette, Ind. - DePauw opened the season at the Indiana Intercolleigates and totaled 177 points to finish fifth among seven schools. Purdue won with 838 followed by Evansville with 236, Rose-Hulman with 230.5 and Wabash at 223.

The Tigers' 200-yard medley relay of Marcus Carter-Buckman, Sam McManus, Ian Longan and Mitchell Davis was sixth in 1:38.81, while the 200 freestyle relay of Will Serf, Sam Wagner, Aidan Schurig and Ryan Smith was eighth in 1:28.51.

McManus scored in two individual events as he was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (58.84) and sixth in the 100 free (48.04). Kurt Swieter was eighth in the 100 free (100 free) and 12th in the 200 free (1:45.81).

Charlie Stewart-Bates was the Tigers' top finisher in the 500 free (4:54.65) with a sixth-place showing.

Turning in ninth-place finishes were Carter-Buckman in the 100 backstroke (55.04), Adam Pircon in the 500 free (4:57.01) and Josh McCown in the 200 individual medley (2:04.75).

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, September 28, when it travels to Washington University in St. Louis for a 1 p.m. CDT meet.
