Tigers Capture NCAC Win Behind Kumar's Goal

Box Score

Greencastle, Ind. -- Despite being outshot 27-6, DePauw defeated Wittenberg 1-0 on Wednesday in a key NCAC matchup as the season nears its end.

DePauw scored in the 81st minute when Alex Berkley made a cross from the right side and found Shaili Kumar near the front of the goal. Kumar kicked the ball into the left side of the net for her third goal of the season and what would end up being the game winner.

DePauw recorded all six of their shots in the second half, while Wittenberg took 11 in the first and 16 in the second. Only two of DePauw's shots were on goal.

Goalie Natalie Sheeks made 11 saves and earned her third win of the season. Wittenberg's Hannah Wilson made two saves to drop her record to 4-5-3.

DePauw improves to 4-10 overall and 3-2 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg drops to 4-5-3 and 3-2 in conference play.

Both teams, as well as Allegheny, have nine points in the standings as they fight for a spot in the conference tournament. Kenyon sits in first with 13 points, and that is where DePauw will travel to on Saturday.
