Box Score Columbus, Ohio – The DePauw women's soccer team defeated Capital 3-2 on Wednesday to improve to 3-0 on the young season.
After 25 minutes of scoreless action the Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in a span of four minutes. Freshman Shaili Kumar scored her third goal in as many games to get the ball rolling at 25:51, only for Alex Berkley to score her first collegiate goal soon after at 29:20.
Capital got one back before the half as DePauw held on to a 2-1 lead after 45 minutes. Rebekah Crone made sure the Tigers would go home happy with her second goal of the season at 55:11 as Capital tried a comeback with a late goal but could not muster another.
Riley Riordan got the win in net with two saves. Capital outshot the Tigers 13-11, while both teams tied on corner kicks at four.
The Tigers return to action Saturday when they host Rose-Hulman in their home opener at noon.
