Box Score Memphis, Tenn. – The DePauw field hockey team failed to get revenge on the team who ended their 2015 season in the NCAA Tournament, falling to Rhodes 3-2 in overtime on Sunday.
The Tigers struck first with a goal by Reilly Bruce in the 20th minute. However, Rhodes responded two minutes later with a goal by Christina DiFelice as the teams went into halftime tied 1-1.
Rhodes came out of halftime and scored in the 44th minute to take a 2-1 lead, but this time DePauw responded quickly with a goal four minutes later from Kate Milner.
With a stalemate going into overtime, Rhodes's Mackenzie Busby hit the game winner at the 77th minute.
Sarah Guendert took the loss in net but made 10 saves facing an aggressive offensive attack.
Rhodes outshot the Tigers 17-14, and won the penalty corner advantage at 12-8.
The Tigers are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Wittenberg to open the NCAC season.
