DePauw Opens Season with Loss at Division II UIndy

Indianapolis, Ind. - DePauw opened the 2016-17 season with a 179-100 loss at Division II University of Indianapolis.

Angela Newlon picked up a win in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:09.04 in addition to a first in the 500 freestyle in 5:07.69.

Kirsten Olson also claimed a first in the 200 individual medley in 2:16.81 and was third in the 200 free in 2:02.14, while Elaine Davis won one-meter diving with 194.10 points.

Shelby Whitt was runner-up in the 1,000 free in 11:18.39 as was Allison Lund was second in the 50 free in 24.95 and the 100 free in 54.73 seconds and Jeanne Cullen in the 500 free in 5:43.21. Also turning in a second-place showing was Mary Woods in the 200 breaststroke in 2:32.64 in addition to a third-place finish in the 100 breast in 1:10.67.

The Tigers' 200 free relay of Ellen Riehle, Olivia Neff, Olson and Woods turned in a second-place finish in 1:42.16.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, October 15, at the Indiana DIII Invitational at Wabash.
