Greencastle, Ind. – In the first round of the North Coast Athletic Conference Softball Tournament on Friday, No. 1 seed DePauw and No. 4 seed Ohio Wesleyan went 12 innings, but it was the Battling Bishops who came up on top 5-4.

With the international tie breaker rule in effect after nine innings, both teams traded runs in the 10th and 11th. DePauw committed two errors in the 12th, which allowed Ohio Wesleyan to bring across two runs, and the Tigers scored one but could not answer both runs in the bottom of the inning.

The game lasted three hours and 18 minutes.

The Tigers managed eight hits with Liz Getz recorded the only multi-hit game for DePauw, going 2-for-6 with one run scored. Sammi Bell, Haleigh Chasteen, Sidney Holler, Gabby Smart, Bekka Roberts and Kat Panos each recorded a hit.

Ohio Wesleyan recorded just four hits with Amanda Boyle going 2-for-5 at the top of the lineup.

Emma Baldwin (12-9) took the loss for the Tigers pitching six innings of relief. None of the four runs she gave up were earned. Brooke Bandy got the start and pitched 2.2 innings, giving up one unearned run and no hits. Ashlee Gibson went 3.1 innings in between, allowing just one hit.

Sarah Flint (7-11) went the distance for Ohio Wesleyan on 168 pitches. She gave up just one earned run.

The Tigers go to the loser's bracket to face Denison, while Ohio Wesleyan faces Wittenberg in the winner's bracket.
