Box Score 2 University Heights, Ohio - Lauren Godden's two homers in game one including the game winner in the 10th lifted DePauw to a 4-2 win over John Carroll, but the Blue Streaks came back for a 7-5 win in the nightcap and a doubleheader split.
DePauw moved to 22-13 and its 11-game win streak came to and end, while John Carroll is now 15-17.
In the opener, John Carroll jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on Lauren Cianciolo's solo homer. The Tigers knotted the contest in the fourth on Godden's solo shot.
The game remained tied as the teams headed to extra innings and the tiebreaker rule. DePauw loaded the bases in the eighth with one out, but couldn't score. John Carroll had a runner at third with no outs in the bottom half of the inning but the Tigers recorded three straight outs.
In the ninth, Kat Panos was placed on second and moved to third on Gabby Smart's sacrifce bunt. Liz Getz followed with a double that scored Panos. The Blue Streaks matched that in the bottom of the frame as Mikki Vance was placed on second and scored when Christie Wade reached on an error of her sacrifice bunt.
Linsey Button was placed on second in the 10th and Godden followed with the game-winning two-run homer.
Getz, Godden and Haleigh Chasteen each had two of DePauw's nine hits. Annmarie Kirchner had two of John Carroll's five hits. The Tigers left 14 runners on base, while John Carroll stranded nine.
Emma Baldwin improved to 10-7 after relieving Brooke Bandy. Baldwin struck out 12 in eight innings. Kirchner dropped to 7-5.
DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game two as Getz and Linsey Button hit back-to-back doubles. In the second, Sidney Holler singled and pinch-runner Autumn Ratliff moved to second on a passed ball before Ashlee Gibson singled her to third. Panos hit into a double play that allowed Gibson to score.
The Tigers made it 4-0 in the third as Bell walked and Getz singled. Each advanced on a wild pitch and then scored on consecutive sacrifice bunts by Button and Godden.
John Carroll trimmed the lead to 4-3 in the third as Alyssa Coleman drove in a pair with a single and then scored on Angie Zappitelli's single.
Smart singled in the fourth before stealing second and third and scoring on Sammi Bell's base hit to make it 5-3.
Zappitelli drove in Carly Simecek with a base hit in the fifth before Maggie Cannon delivered a three-run homer to left center.
Getz and Button each had two of DePauw's 11 hits, while Coleman and Zappitelli each collected two of John Carroll's 11.
Baldwin suffered the loss and dropped to 10-8, while Brianna Lach improved to 5-6.
DePauw travels to Denison on Tuesday, April 26, for a 3:30 p.m. North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader.
