Box Score 2 Redlands, Calif. - DePauw dropped to 5-10 on the season after losing both ends of a doubleheader at Redlands by scores of 11-3 in six innings and 8-5. The Bulldogs improved to 14-6.
In the opener, Redlands scored first with a five-run third including Vicki King's three-run homer and a two-run blast from Ursyla Baumgarten.
The Tigers scored one in the fourth, but the Bulldogs countered with a three-run bottom of the fourth to take an 8-1 lead.
DePauw trimmed that lead to 8-3 in the sixth, but Redlands ended the contest due to the eight-run rule with a three-run bottom of the sixth.
Linsey Button had two of DePauw's five hits, while A.J. Carrasco, King and Baumgarten each had two for Redlands.
Emma Baldwin dropped to 2-5 in the circle, while Laura Henson improved to 2-3.
In the second game, DePauw grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first when Lauren Godden scored Sarah Beischer with a sacrifice fly. Redlands even the count in the bottom of the frame as Baumgarten's sacrifice fly scored Bev Valerio.
Redlands had six hits in the second and took advantage of a pair of DePauw errors in a six-run inning. The Bulldogs made it 8-1 with a single run in the third.
DePauw started to come back with a three-run fourth that included an RBI single from Gabby Smart and a run-scoring grounder by Ashlee Gibson.
Godden's RBI single in the seventh trimmed the deficit to 8-5, but the comeback fell short as te Tigers left a pair of runners on base.
DePauw totaled nine hits paced by two each from Button and Godden, while Redlands pounded out 15 including three each from Valerio and Hayley Romo and two apiece from Grace Rose and King.
Brooke Bandy dropped to 2-4 in the circle, while Lindsey Mifsud improved to 7-3 and Casey Maltz picked up her first save.
DePauw travels to Trine on Saturday, March 26, for a Noon doubleheader.
