Newlon Finishes Fourth in 500 Free; Earns All-America Honors

Greensboro, N.C. - Angela Newlon finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle and earned all-America honors at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. 

Newlon, who entered the Championships with the top time this season, finished in 4:52.30 after placing third in the prelims in 4:52.56.

In other prelim action, Kirsten Olson was 38th in the 200 individual medley in 2:08.30, while Caroline Bridges was 41st in the 50 free in 24.00. The 200 medley relay of Olson, Mary Woods, Newlon and Bridges was 20th in 1:46.96.

With 15 points, the Tigers are in 14th place after the first of four days of competition. Thursday's prelims get underway at 10 a.m.
