Tigers Lose to Wittenberg

Springfield, Ohio – It was a rough outing for the DePauw men's basketball team Wednesday in an 85-53 defeat to Wittenberg.

Wittenberg improved to 14-8 overall and 9-6 in North Coast Athletic Conference play. DePauw dropped to 7-15 and 3-12 in the NCAC.

DePauw scored the opening points with a 3-pointer from Cris Burrough but saw Wittenberg immediately embark on a 15-0 run in the next five minutes. The lead only got larger as DePauw trailed 41-20 at the half.

Wittenberg led by as much as 40 with just under eight minutes to go in the game, but to DePauw's credit they were able to finish strong with a 16-8 advantage until the end.

David Vogel came off the bench to lead the Tigers with 11 points. Season leading scorer Luke Lattner was held scoreless for the first time this year.

Burrough added eight points, while Bradley Fey and Nate Jahn each added seven.

DePauw shot just 34 percent from the floor (18-of-53) and 31 percent from 3-point range (9-of-29). Wittenberg shot 59 percent (34-of-58) and 57 percent from beyond the arc (12-of-21).

Wittenberg outrebounded the Tigers 45-18 and converted 18 second chance points to DePauw's five. They also outscored the Tigers in the paint 37-14.

DePauw committed less turnovers (12-8) and scored 17 points off turnovers to Wittenberg's eight.
