Penalty Kick Cuts DePauw's NCAC Tournament Run Short

Granville, Ohio – The DePauw women's soccer team played Denison straight for 84 minutes, but one foul in the box that resulted in a penalty kick goal gave the Big Red a 1-0 win in the NCAC Tournament semifinals on Wednesday.

Drew Wentzel connected on the penalty kick at 84:07 against DePauw goalie Riley Riordan. Riordan stayed busy in the net all night with seven saves but guessed wrong on the penalty kick as Wentzel went left.

The second seeded Big Red outshot the third seeded Tigers 15-9 and had eight shots on goal, while DePauw had just one.

DePauw drops to 9-7-1 overall. Denison (9-5-4) advances to the championship game to play No. 1 seed Wittenberg, who defeated Kenyon 3-0.
