Men's Soccer Eliminated in NCAA Second Round

Box Score

Greencastle, Ind. – Redlands once again found some late-game magic on Sunday, defeating DePauw 2-1 in the second round of NCAA Division III men's soccer championship.

The Bulldogs fought back from a 2-0 deficit last night against Washington-St. Louis and on Sunday, dug out of a 1-0 hold at halftime against the Tigers.

It was a close matchup throughout with Redlands outshooting DePauw 14-11 and with three saves and corner kicks from each side. It was a scoreless affair for 47:09 until E.J. Moore found Zach Hoffman near the top of the box to DePauw in the lead 1-0.

Redlands then came out of the half and scored at 58:34 with team leading scorer Chase Boone scoring soon after a throw in from the left side of the field. Twenty minutes later Ben Thompson hit the game-winner on a header after receiving the pass off a free kick from Isaac Bogart.

Harrison Glover made three saves for the Tigers.

Redlands (17-5-1) moves to the NCAA round of 16 and will face top-seed Chicago. DePauw concludes its season at 12-6-2.
