Bruce Hits Game Winner to Give Tigers Big NCAC win

Box Score
After failing to score in their previous game against Kenyon, the DePauw field hockey team scored two second half goals to take a crucial 2-1 North Coast Athletic Conference game against the Ladies on Saturday.

After that loss on Sept. 25, the Tigers have embarked on a seven-game winning streak to improve to 13-3 overall and 10-1 in the NCAC. Kenyon falls to 11-5 and 9-3 in the conference.

Paige Berliner broke a long scoreless tie at 53:15, scoring with a backhand that went off the keeper glove and into the net. Yet, Kenyon answered back with their own backhanded goal at 56:24.

DePauw came right back themselves as Reilly Bruce hit the game winner at 63:21 off an assist from Kate Milner. It was Berliner's 15th goal this season and Bruce's 10th. Milner's assist was her 11th, which is a team-high.

DePauw outshot Kenyon 21-9. Sarah Foye took the win in net with one save. DePauw also took 14 penalty corners to Kenyon's three.

The Tigers have another tough task ahead for them at Denison tomorrow. Denison enters in second place of the NCAC at 9-2 (12-3 overall) and are coming off a 1-0 win against Earlham. DePauw took the earlier matchup at Reavis Stadium 2-1. Action begins at noon.
