Fifth Straight Win for Tigers in 7-1 Rout Versus Wooster

Box Score

The DePauw field hockey team had little issue with Wooster on Saturday taking a 7-1 win for their fifth consecutive win and fourth straight win in North Coast Athletic Conference play.

Paige Berliner led the charge with two goals to push her team-high season total to 14. She scored to end the first half in the 23rd minute and to start the second half in the 43rd minute. Kate Milner assisted on both goals.

Kelsey Doerr scored her second goal of the season to start the game seven minutes in, which ended up being the game winner. She scored after the ball bounced off the post of a previous shot.

Maddy Burds then took one herself for her second goal of the season in the 16th minute. Wooster answered to make it 2-1 in the 17th minute, but the Tigers got it right back on Addie Ball's seventh goal of the season at 18:45.

With a 5-1 lead after Berliner's goals, Tori Witteman connected on her fourth at 60:05 on an assist from Burds. In the same minute at 60:59 Corina Bourantas scored her third of the year as Witteman was credited with the assist.

DePauw outshot Wooster 28-11. Both teams took 11 penalty corners. Sarah Foye earned her seventh win in net, recording six saves for the game.

DePauw improves to 11-3 overall and 8-1 in the NCAC. Wooster drops to 6-9 and 4-6 in the conference.

The Tigers return to action tomorrow when they host Oberlin.

I chose DePauw because I did not want my sports career to end in high school. DePauw allows me to participate in field hockey while also having the opportunity to be involved in other campus activities outside of athletics.
