Box Score Behind a hat trick from
Paige Berliner, the DePauw field hockey team defeated Ohio Wesleyan 5-2 on Saturday in a North Coast Athletic Conference matchup.
Berliner scored her 10th, 11th and 12th goals of the season, starting by putting DePauw on the board first in 7:30. She also scored twice to start the second half, once at 38:06 and her third at 43:57.
After Berliner's first goal, Ohio Wesleyan's Paige Haenig tied the game at 9:37. Kate Milner then scored at 18:32 to keep DePauw ahead for good and to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Maddy Burds capped the DePauw scoring at 46:53. It was her first goal of the season. She also was credited an assist on Berliner's second goal.
Haenig scored once more for the Battling Bishops at 57:26 following a penalty corner and with the Tigers a man down.
Sarah Foye took the win in net. She improves to 4-1.
DePauw outshot Ohio Wesleyan 23-5 and took 14 penalty corners to Ohio Wesleyan's six.
DePauw moves to 8-3 overall and 5-1 in the NCAC. Ohio Wesleyan is 4-6 overall and 2-5 in the conference.
The Tigers return to action Tuesday when they travel to Earlham.
