Granville, Ohio – A strong second half could not overcome a lackluster first as the DePauw men's basketball team fell to Denison on Wednesday 81-60.

It was a similar outcome in Greencastle for their first contest on Dec. 2, which Denison also won 80-67.

This time out, DePauw could not break 20 points in the first half and trailed at halftime 46-19. However, the Tigers, who trailed by as much as 35, won the second half by a 41-35 advantage.

Luke Lattner scored a team-high 20 points and was the only Tiger to reach double figures. Adam Botts, Bradley Fey and James Clarke each added six points.

Denison's Jett Speelman scored a game-high 24 points.

The Tigers held the better field goal percentage (47 percent to 44), but turnovers got the better of them. Denison forced 17 turnovers and scored 20 points off of them. DePauw did its job on the other end as well, scoring 17 points off by forcing 12 turnovers.

Denison scored 36 points in the paint to DePauw's 28 and outrebounded the Tigers 44-24.

The Tigers return to action Saturday when they travel to Oberlin for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
