Box Score Fredericksburg, Va. – Head coach Erika Dombkowski captured her first career win as the Tigers held off St. Mary's (Md.) 4-3 in overtime on Sunday. It was the Tigers' second consecutive overtime game to start the season as they move to 1-1.
St. Mary's took an early lead off a goal from Sophie Michel before the Tigers' Reilly Bruce scored at the 21:15 mark to make it a 1-1 game. Another goal from St. Mary's made it a 2-1 game at halftime.
DePauw came out of the half and connected on two consecutive goals. Addie Ball scored the first (55:12) and almost three minutes later DePauw took a 3-2 lead on a goal from Maddy Burds (58:03). Paige Berliner was credited on the assist.
St. Mary's forced the game into overtime at the 69:40 mark. The score remained 3-3 past the first overtime until Tori Wittemann, off an assist from Burds, secured the win for the Tigers at 90:23.
Tiger goalkeeper Sarah Guendert achieved her first win of the year after recording 10 saves. DePauw outshot St. Mary's 18-17 and held the slight advantage in corners 12-9. There were 96 combined fouls in the 90-minute match.
DePauw starts a stretch of four straight home games and opens conference play on Friday when they host Wittenberg.
