Tigers Win Pair of 3-2 Decisions But Do It in Different Ways

Bluffton, Ohio - It was a tale of two matches today as DePauw rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Alma, 3-2, in its morning match and then held on for a 3-2 victory over Bluffton later in the day after jumping out to a 2-0 lead. With the sweep, DePauw is now 3-1 on the season.

In the opening match, Alma jumped out to a 2-0 lead with 27-25 and 30-28 wins in the opening two sets. The Tigers evened the contest with a 25-17 victory in the third set before taking the fourth set by a 28-26 count. In the decisive fifth set, DePauw held a 9-8 win before going on a 6-1 run including the match-ending kill by Elisabeth Wilson.

Lauren Falotico, a member of the all-tournament team, led DePauw with 18 kills, while Wilson added 13. Faith Rolwes assisted on 45 of the Tigers' 57 kills, while Abby Braun delivered three aces and Wilson two. Keely McGrath paced the defensive effort with 24 digs, while Wilson had one solo block and four block assists.

Hannah Guilford led the Scots with 15 kills with Dalota Pelach chipping in 12. Maria Feldpausch totaled 22 assists and Pelach 16, while Guilford recorded four aces. Molly Lark paced Alma with 26 digs with Kara Muxlow and totaling one block solo and three block assists. 

Against the hosts, DePauw opened with 25-23 and 25-20 wins before the Beavers rallied with 25-21 and 25-18 victories in the next two sets. The Tigers then wrapped up the match with a 15-11 win in the fifth set.

Falotico paced DePauw with 21 kills, while Suzanne Peters followed with 14. Rolwes assisted on 48 of DePauw's 66 kills and led with three aces. McGrath recorded 28 digs with Wilson totaling six block assists.

MacKenzie McFarlin led the Beavers with 19 kills and five aces, while Erin Weisgarber had 63 assists. Sydney Mohler paced Bluffton with 20 digs with Jenny Brown totaling five blocks.

DePauw returns to action on September 11 when it travels to Washington University for the Baden Invite. The Tigers face the host Bears and Whitworth that evening.
