Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - Second-seeded DePauw scored in each of the first three innings and pounded out 14 hits on the way to a 9-5 win over third-seeded Washington University in the Greencastle Regional's second game.
DePauw improved to 31-13 and will face Thomas More in tomorrow's 11 a.m. winner's bracket game, while the Bears dropped to 33-12 and take on Trine in a 1:30 p.m. elimination game tomorrow.
DePauw's Linsey Button homered with two outs in the first to give the Tigers a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Gabby Smart's second-inning single plated pinch-runner Beth Chelmowski to make it 2-0.
The Tigers added three more in the third as Lauren Godden drove in Sammi Bell with a double before Alli Dennie doubled down the left field line, scoring Button and pinch-runner Andi Sarkisian.
Washington reached the board in the fourth as Hannah Mehrle came home on Hera Tang's grounder. The Bears added three unearned runs in the fifth as the Tigers committed three straight errors with two outs.
DePauw got one of those back in the bottom of the fifth as Morgan McCord triples and scored on Taylor Golden's squeeze bunt.
The Tigers sealed the win in the sixth when Button doubled with two outs and Godden followed with a two-run homer to center. McCord doubles and scored on Kathleen Byers' two-bagger.
Washington scored one in the seventh as Hannah Mehrle doubled home Paige Biles.
Bell, Button, Godden and McCord each had two hits for the Tigers wnile six different Bears had one hit each.
Kahla Nolan improved to 16-8, while Emma Baldwin picked up her fifth save. Annie Pitkin dropped to 20-7 with the loss.
