Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - Lauren Godden's second three-run homer in as many innings gave DePauw a walk-off, 9-6, win over Moravian in game two of the Greencastle Super Regional of the NCAA Division III Championship.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 34-14 and forced the "if necessary" game of the Super Regional which takes place later today. The Greyhounds slipped to 38-8.
The game included two rain delays totaling four hours and 30 minutes and DePauw trailing 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth.
The Tigers' rally in the bottom of the sixth started with Sammi Bell being hit by a pitch and moving to second on Elizabeth Getz's bunt single. Linsey Button's grounder forced Bell at third, but Lauren Godden followed with a three-run homer to left center. Morgan McCord followed with a walk before Jennifer Ridge reached on an error and advanced to second on the play. Gabby Smart followed with a double to right center that scored two and knotted the score at 6-6. After Smart's hit, the teams cleared the field for what became a 3-hour, 59-minute rain delay.
Bell led off the DePauw seventh with a single up the middle before Getz walked. After Button popped up a bunt attempt, Godden ripped a 1-1 pitch over the fence in right center for the win.
Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Mary Schlosbon singled and stole second before Julie Siragusa walked and Lizzie Mack singled to center, scoring
Schlosbon.
The Tigers countered in the bottom of the frame with Bell leading off with a triple down the right field line and scoring on Button's squeeze bunt.
The teams sat through a 31-minute rain delay after Moravian batted in the second and the game remained tied through three.
Julie Siragusa led off the fourth with a single to left and advanced to second on an error. Mack's bunt moved her to third and Madison Newhouser singled her home.
Lizzie Deutsch followed with a base hit through the left side and pinch-hitter Abby Jeffries moved the runners up with a grounder to first. After Janae Matos was hit by a pitch, Newhouser scored on a wild pitch and Jenn Dalickas drove in a pair with a double to left center to make it 5-1.
Dior George's infield single in the sixth scored pinch-runner Jackie Marshall from second and pushed the Moravian lead to 6-1.
Both teams totaled nine hits with Bell leading DePauw with three and Getz and Bell totaling two apiece. Godden drove in six with her two homers. Madison Newhouser led Moravian with two hits.
Emma Baldwin improved to 13-5 after pitching the final three innings, while Josie Novak came in relief for Moravian and dropped to 19-6.
