Box Score 2 Anderson, Ind. - In the final tuneup prior to the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, DePauw swept a doubleheader at Anderson by scores of 8-5 and 6-5 with the nightcap going eight innings.
The Tigers improved to 27-12, while the Ravens dropped to 27-9.
In game one, DePauw jumped out to an early lead in the first as Sammi Bell led off with a single and later scored on a wild pitch. Taylor Golden delivered a three-run homer with two outs to make it 4-0. Golden's solo shot in the third pushed DePauw's lead to 5-0.
Anderson reached the board in the third on Megan Wade's two-run single, but the Tigers answered with two in the fourth on Jennifer Ridge's RBI single and Elizabeth Getz's sacrifice fly.
The Ravens closed the gap to 7-3 in the fourth when Regan Sharp scored after Nichole Frazier reached on an error.
DePauw added an insurance run in the sixth as Bell doubled and scored on Getz's single. Anderson matched that in the bottom of the sixth when Sharp singled and later scored on an error.
Rachel Suits singled to start the Anderson seventh, but was forced at second when Wade reached on a fielder's choice. Sharp then delivered a run-scoring double, but DePauw pitcher Emma Baldwin struck out Morgan Burke to end the game.
Bell collected four of DePauw's 11 hits as she went four-for-four and Golden added two hits with four RBI on her two homers. Suits, Wade and Sharp each had two of Anderson's eight hits.
Kahla Nolan improved to 13-7 with the win, while Emma Baldwin picked up her second save. Hannah Belvo dropped to 6-1 with the loss.
In the nightcap, it was Anderson that got off to the fast start with three in the first. Sami Frazier's single scored Markie Wood before Blake Thomas doubled home a pair.
Golden led off the DePauw second with a double and scored on Ridge's single. Anderson extended its lead to 4-1 in the third as Sharp singled with two outs and later scored on Thomas' base hit.
DePauw evened the count in the fourth as Golden knocked in two with a double and then scored on Gabby Smart's grounder. The Tigers took the lead in the sixth as Getz led off with a double and came home on Smart's single.
The Ravens forced extra innings when Taylar Kelso singled home Sharp with two outs.
DePauw won the game in the eighth as Godden led off with a single, moved to third on sacrifice bunts by Golden and KJ Holden and scored on Smart's grounder.
The Ravens put two on with two outs in the bottom of the eighth but Baldwin struck out Sharp to end the game.
Getz, Godden and Golden each had two of DePauw's 10 hits, while Frazier and Thomas each had two of the Ravens' 10 hits.
Baldwin improved to 11-4 with the win, while Frazier dropped to 6-4.
DePauw hosts the NCAC Tournament this Friday and Saturday and opens play against Denison on Friday at Noon. Follow all the tournament action from the host site.
