Box Score 2 Greencastle, Ohio - DePauw wrapped up North Coast Athletic Conference regular season play with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Wooster by scores of 9-1 and 4-0.
With the wins, DePauw improved to 25-12 overall and 14-2 in NCAC play. The Tigers captured their third straight NCAC title and became the first school in NCAC history to win 14 conference games in a season. Wooster finished its season at 15-21 overall and 5-11 in the conference.
In the opener, the Tigers scored three runs each in the second, fourth and fifth innings. In the second, Alli Dennie reached on an error and pinch-runner Morgan McCord stole second before coming home on Taylor Golden's double down the left field line.
Golden moved to third on Gabby Smart's sacrifice bunt and scored when Jennifer Ridge reached on an error. Ridge stole second and moved to third on Julia Waggoner's single. Sammi Bell's bunt single in front of the plate scored Ridge and made it 3-0.
Wooster's lone run came in the fourth as Stephanie Little singled with one out and moved to third on Jenna Kendall's double to left. Demi Hart's sacrifice fly plated Little.
Waggoner led off the DePauw fourth with a bunt single before Bell hammered a homer to center. Elizabeth Getz followed with a single and stole second. After Kathleen Byers' bunt single, Lauren Godden drove in Getz with a single to left to make it 6-1.
The Tigers wrapped up the contest in the fifth as Waggoner and Bell each singled and Getz was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Beth Chelmowski's single scored two and K.J. Holden reached on a sacrifice fly that score Getz and ended the game due to the eight-run rule.
DePauw totaled 13 hits with Bell and Waggoner each totaling three. Getz followed with a pair. Skye Patterson had two of Wooster's four hits.
Kahla Nolan improved to 12-7 after allowing just four hits with six strikeouts and no walks. Maddy Chase dropped to 6-10.
In the nightcap, the Tigers got out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Bell led off with a single and moved to third on Andi Sarkisian's sacrifice bunt. Holden followed with a grounder that scored Bell.
Bell's sacrifice fly in the second scored Megan Montgomery and Sarkisian's single brought home Smart.
DePauw's final score came in the sixth as McCord led off with a single and stole both second and third. Ridge lifted a sacrifice fly to right, scoring McCord.
Nine different Tigers accounted for their 10 hits with Sarkisian leading with two. Paige Goldberg had two of Wooster's five hits.
Emma Baldwin improved to 10-4 after striking out 11 and walking just two on the way to her third shutout of the season. Rylee Bouillion made her first start of the season and allowed just two earned runs while dropping to 0-1.
The Tigers host the NCAC Tournament May 1-2 with a full schedule to be announced when all NCAC competition is completed.
