#23 DePauw Splits Games at Emory; Moves to 6-2 on Season

Atlanta, Ga. - DePauw, ranked 23rd in Division III, opened with an 8-1 loss to Emory before rallying for a 6-3 victory over Randolph. With the split, the Tigers moved to 6-2 on the season.

In the Emory game, the host Eagles (9-0) scored two in the first on Hanna Sendel's two-run double to left center. They added five more in the second after Micah Scharff drew a bases loaded walk and Sendel blasted a grand slam to left.

Sammi Bell's single through the left side in the fourth scored Beth Chelmowski with DePauw's lone run and Emory added one more in the fifth when Scharff doubled home Brianna Berceau.

Bell and Elizabeth each collected one hit off of Brittany File who improved to 5-0.

Emory collected eight hits with Sendel and Ashley Powers each totaling two. Sendel drove in six.

DePauw's Kahla Nolan suffered the loss and dropped to 3-1.

In the Randolph game, the WildCats scored one in the first when Jessica Nowak doubled home Hunter Glave.

The Tigers responded with all six of their runs in the third. Lauren Godden drew a bases loaded walk and Taylor Golden knocked in a run after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Gabby Smart's single scored Bell and Godden before K.J. Holden reached on an error that allowed Golden to score. Holden then stole second and Smart scored on the play.

Randolph added two as Rachel Hickman clubbed a solo homer in the fourth and Glave lifted a sacrifice fly to center in the fifth which allowed Wilson Haleigh Wilson to score.

Emma Baldwin started for DePauw and pitched the first three innings before coming back in to get the final out in the seven after The WildCats placed two runner on base. Baldwin improved to 3-1 and recorded five strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. Hannah Winfree dropped to 0-2 for Randolph.

Smart led the Tigers with two of their five hits, while five different Randolph players collected one hit apiece. Randolph dropped to 0-3 with the loss.

The Tigers are scheduled to host Trine in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, March 14, at 1 p.m.
