Box Score 2 Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw pitcher Emma Baldwin tossed a five-inning no-hitter in game two and Kahla Nolan allowed just two hits in the opener as the Tigers swept a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader against visiting Denison by scores of 5-0 and 9-0.
The Tigers improved to 13-8 overall and 4-0 in the NCAC, while the Big Red slipped to 7-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
In the opener, the teams battled through three scoreless innings before DePauw broke through in the bottom of the fourth. Linsey Button led off with a double down the right field line and moved to third on Lauren Godden's sacrifice bunt. Alli Dennie reached on an error allowing Button to score.
The Tigers added two more in the fifth as Morgan McCord singled to center and advanced to second on Jennifer Ridge's grounder. Sammi Bell walked and Elizabeth Getz's grounder advanced both. Button and Godden followed with RBI singles to make it 3-0.
Ridge reached on a fielder's choice in the sixth and moved to second on Bell's sacrifice bunt. Getz reached on an error that allowed Ridge to score.
Button had two of DePauw's five hits, while Julie Rooney and Marlie Mounts each had one for Denison.
Nolan improved to 5-6 with her second straight shutout and struck out three with three walks, while Lauren Secaras dropped to 4-2 for the Big Red.
In the nightcap, only two Denison players reached base as Baldwin walked Lindsey Kenyon in the first and Ryan Lee reached on an error in the fifth. In between, she retired 10 straight.
The Tigers got on the board in the first as Bell led off with a single, moved to second on
Getz's grounder and to third on Button's single. After Button stole second, Godden drove in Bell with a double to right center.
Bell's two-run double in the second scored Julia Waggoner and Gabby Smart who both singled. DePauw extended the lead to 5-0 in the third as Button led off with a walk and Godden hammered her fifth homer of the season to left.
Ridge led off the fourth with a single and was forced at second when Waggoner reached on a fielder's choice. Waggoner then scored when Bell singled and the left fielder couldn't field the ball cleanly in the outfield.
Godden drove in Getz and Bell in the fourth with a single to center and then scored on Taylor Golden's single to right center.
DePauw had 11 hits with Bell and Godden each finishing with three. Godden drove in five in the win. Baldwin totaled 70 pitches and struck out four in improving to 5-2. Denison's Erin Laswell dropped to 2-7.
The Tigers travel to Aurora on Thursday for a 3 p.m. CDT doubleheader.
