Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw clubbed seven home runs and totaled 22 runs in a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep of Kenyon as the Tigers took game one, 8-0, in five innings and game two by a 14-5 count in six innings.
With the sweep, DePauw improved to 11-8 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC, while Kenyon dropped to 19-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play as its 15-game win streak came to an end. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Kenyon so the Ladies were the home team in both games today.
The Tigers got out to a 1-0 lead in the second as Alli Dennie led off with a single and pinch-runner Morgan McCord stole second. Jennifer Ridge delivered a two-out single up the middle that scored McCord.
Elizabeth Getz hit a two-run homer to center in the third before Taylor Golden's solo shot in the fourth made it 4-0.
Kenyon was hitless through three before loading the bases in the fourth with two singles and a walk, but the Tigers turned a home-to-first-to-home double play to end the threat.
The Tigers delivered the knockout blow in the fifth as Kathleen Byers and Getz singled and Linsey Button followed with a homer to center to push the lead to 8-0.
DePauw totaled 11 hits with Getz leading with three and eight other players collecting one each. The four homers equaled the second-best single game performance by a DePauw team.
Kahla Nolan improved to 4-6 with the shutout as she allowed just two hits. Maddy Stark dropped to 10-3 a nd struck out four with no walks.
DePauw again got out to an early lead in the nightcap as Sammi Bell led off with a single and Getz followed with a two-run homer to left center.
Alli Dennie made it 3-0 in the third with a solo homer to center and Kenyon countered in the bottom of the frame when Lindsey Susolik reached on a DePauw error that allowed Jane Ghublikian to score.
The Tigers extended the lead to 8-1 with five in the fourth capped by Lauren Godden's two-run homer to center. The Ladies scored four in the bottom of the fourth with Stark accounting for the final two on a two-run homer to center.
DePauw sealed the win with four in the fifth and two in the sixth.
The Tigers banged out 11 hits again with Getz totaleding three along with four RBI to go 6-for-7 in the doubleheader with six RBI. Button and Godden added two hits each with Bell and Getz each scoring three. Madi Maldonado and Susolik each had two of Kenyon's six hits.
KJ Holden improved to 3-0 with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Emma Baldwin started and struck out five in 3 1/3 innings.
DePauw hosts Denison on Tuesday in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.DePauw
