Box Score 2 Lynchburg, Va. - After dropping the first game at Lynchburg by a 4-1 score, DePauw clubbed three homers in the nightcap for a 9-3 win and a doubleheader split.
DePauw is now 9-8 on the season, while the Hornets are 17-8.
In the opener, Allie Dennie hit a solo homer in the second to give DePauw a 1-0 lead, but Lynchburg's Logan Walker singled home Amber Ingram in the bottom of the frame to even the score.
The Hornets added one in the third and two in the fourth, all on RBI singles.
Dennie had two of DePauw's four hits, while Kayla St. John had two of Lynchburg's seven hits.
Kahla Nolan dropped to 3-6 after starting and going four innings. Hope Johnson improved to 5-3 with the complete game win.
Linsey Button hit a solo homer with two outs in the first of the second game to give DePauw the early lead, but the Hornets countered in the bottom of the frame as Danielle Powell singled home Jessi Hall.
DePauw struck with five runs in the third starting with Elizabeth Getz's two-run, bases loaded single. Lauren Godden made it 6-1 with a three-run homer to right center.
Powell and Ingram hit back-to-back solo homers in the bottom fo the third to close the gap to 6-3.
Taylor Golden expanded the lead to 7-3 in the fourth with a homer to right center and the Tigers wrapped up the scoring in the fifth when Gabby Smart drove in two with a single.
DePauw totaled 10 hits paced by Golden's two. Lynchburg finished with seven hits including Powell's three and Amber Ingram's two.
KJ Holden improved to 2-0 , while Emma Baldwin picked up her first save. Conner English suffered the loss and dropped to 6-3.
DePauw hosts Kenyon on Sunday, March 29, at 11 a.m.
