Box Score 2 Salisbury, Md. - The fourth inning was big for second-ranked Salisbury as it scored eight of its 12 runs for the day in that frame on the way to a doubleheader sweep of DePauw. The Sea Gulls won by scores of 6-3 and 6-1. DePauw dropped to 7-6, while Salisbury improved to 12-1.
In the opener, DePauw grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first as Elizabeth Getz reached on a bunt single, stole second, moved to third on an illegal pitch and scored on Linsey Button's sacrifice fly.
Salisbury matched that in the bottom of the first as LeAnne Collins singled with one out, Katie Sebbane was hit by a pitch and Rebecca Hoey walked to load the bases. Molly Simpson then was hit by a pitch, scoring Collins.
DePauw made it 2-1 in the third when Sammi Bell drew a one-out walk, moved to second on Getz's sacrifice bunt and scored on Button's double to left center.
The Sea Gulls took the lead for good in the fourth when Kim Dorsey doubled and Collins walk before Paige Knussman delivered a three-run homer to left.
The Tigers added one more in the sixth when Button led off with a walk and scored on Gabby Smart's two-out single to left center.
Sebbane and Hoey each hit RBI doubles in the bottom of the sixth to round out the scoring.
Lauren Godden had two of DePauw's five hits, while Dorsey and Hoey each had two of Salisbury's seven.
Kahla Nolan dropped to 3-4 with the loss, while Rachel Johnson improved to 8-1 after striking out 10 Tigers.
In game two Dorsey hit a solo homer to center in the third to put the hosts in front and the Sea Gulls added five in the fourth. Salisbury starting pitcher Annah Brittingham helped her own cause with a leadoff homer in the fourth. Collins and Hoey each added two-run singles to make it 6-0.
DePauw scored its lone run in the fifth when Bell drew a one-out walk, moved to second on Getz's single and scored on Button's double.
Six different Tigers collected one hit apiece, while Hoey and Brittingham each had two of the Sea Gulls' seven hits.
Brittingham improved to 4-0, while Emma Baldwin dropped to 4-2.
The Tigers travel to Newport News, Va., for a 2 p.m. doubleheader with Christopher Newport.
