Shenandoah, Texas - DePauw sophomore Angela Newlon (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) broke her own 500-yard freestyle school record twice today and earned all-America honors with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.
In the prelims, Newlon posted the fifth-fasted time and broke her own school mark by .38 seconds after finishing in 4:50.53. In the finals, she touched in 4:50.13. Last year, Newlon was ninth in the event.
Senior Emily Weber (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) earned honorable mention all-America accolades after placing 16th in 4:59.19 after turning in a 4:57.33 performance in the prelims.
The Tigers' 200 medley relay of Kirsten Olson, Newlon, Weber and Erin Horne was 23rd in 1:49.04.
Thursday will be a busy day for the Tigers as the 200 free and 400 medley relay compete in addition to Newlon in the 400 individual medley and Weber and Olson in the 200 free.
