Greencastle, Ind. – After claiming their first-ever North Coast Athletic Conference regular season championship, the women's soccer team stayed true to their No. 1 seeding in the tournament. The Tigers defeated Denison 2-0 in the championship game on Saturday for the program's second tournament title (after winning in 2012).

The Tigers avenged a regular season loss when they traveled to Denison and lost 3-1 on Oct. 24. This time out, DePauw made the most of its scoring opportunities and received a stellar game in net by Riley Riordan.

In fact, DePauw only took two shots in the first half but both resulted in goals. The first came early at 6:59 and helped set the tone for the game when Jen Dimos picked the ball up from about 25 yards out and lined a shot into the left side of the net.

DePauw's second and final goal came just before the first half ended at 38:57. Kathryn Ruark, following her game-winner in double overtime against Wittenberg, received a through-pass from Kelsey Cobbs and capitalized on the one-on-one against Denison keeper Jenny Herold to make it 2-0.

Denison actually outshot DePauw 10-2 in the first half and 12-6 overall. Riordan (12-6-1) made five saves, all of which came in the first half, as DePauw locked down defensively in the second half. DePauw took six shots for the game.

Riordan also made a great play to stop a goal in the 51st minute when Maggie Armstrong forced a one-on-one. Riordan came out and laid on the ball before Armstrong could get off a shot to keep her fourth shutout intact.

The win earns DePauw (12-6-1) an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III tournament. They'll find out who and where they will play on Monday.
