West Lafayette, Ind. -- The DePauw women's swimming team competed at Purdue University on Saturday in the Indiana Intercollegiates at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.
DePauw, in its first meet of the year, was fourth with a score of 173. Purdue won by a large margin with 896 points. Ball State (346) and the University of Indianapolis (215) rounded out the top three.
The 200 yard medley relay team finished sixth (1:51.12) with a team of Annie Graves, Mary Woods, Angela Newlon and Caroline Bridges.
Newlon also swam to a fourth place finish in the 200 free (1:55.37). She then placed third in the 500 free (5:01.88).
Bridges also was ninth in the 50 free (25.18). Bridges, Kirsten Olson and Erin Horne then finished seventh, eighth and ninth respectively in the 100 free. Bridges swam a 54.69, Olson swam a 55.40 and Horne swam a 55.55.
Woods finished ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.98).
The 200 free relay of Olson, Ellen Riehle, Marihelen Gallagher and Horne finished sixth (1:42.77). Kayla Riemensperger, Katie Ferris, Taylor Mueller and Abby Sheehan were not far behind in ninth place (1:47.99).
DePauw returns to action Oct. 31 when it travels to Washington-St. Louis.
