Tigers take another close win

Box Score

Wooster, Ohio – For the second consecutive game an underclassman hit the game-winning goal as the DePauw women's soccer team defeated Wooster 2-1 in double overtime on Saturday.

After freshman Ali Grimm scored her first collegiate goal for DePauw to escape with a 1-0 win earlier in the week, on Saturday it was sophomore Kathryn Ruark whose second collegiate goal was her first game-winner for the Tigers.

Ruark scored at the 101:51 mark in the second overtime for DePauw to move to 8-5-1 overall and to remain undefeated and alone in first place at 5-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Wooster drops to 9-5-1 overall and 2-3 in the NCAC.

Ruark's goal came off a rebound after Bridget Brendza took a shot that hit the crossbar. DePauw's first goal also came off a rebound as Elizabeth Seewer scored her fifth goal of the year at 25:51.

Wooster's lone goal came toward the end of the first half when Lily Mohre scored out of goalkeeper Riley Riordan's reach. Riordan recorded five saves to move to 8-5-1 for the year.

DePauw barely outshot Wooster 13-12. DePauw took four corners to Wooster's two, and Wooster committed 13 fouls to DePauw's 10. Wooster was also called for five yellow cards.

Next, the Tigers host Wittenberg on Wednesday. It is the team's final regular season home game.
