Tigers Start Year with Sixth-place Finish

West Lafayette, Ind. – The DePauw men's swimming team opened its season at Purdue University on Saturday in the Indiana Intercollegiates at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

DePauw finished sixth with a score of 123 as Purdue won the event. Among the teams competing included Wabash, Ball State, the University of Indianapolis and IUPUI.

The Tigers had a number of solid finishes with Blake Lehmann finishing third in the 50 free (21.28) and fourth in the 100 fly (51.10).

Kurt Swieter, Adam Pircon and Alex Grissom finished seventh, eighth and ninth respectively in the 500 free. Swieter had a time of 4:49.95, Pircon swam to a time of 4:52.49 and Grissom had a time of 4:55.06.

Swieter also was 10th in the 200 free (1:45.97). DePauw finished fifth in the 200 free relay (1:29.03) with a team of Sam Parker, Pircon, Sam Wagner and Matt Oonk.

Oonk also was 13th in the 100 free (49.72).

The men return to action Oct. 30 when they host Wabash.
