Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- After a slow start the DePauw men's soccer team lit up the scoreboard, scoring nine goals to defeat the visiting Anderson University Ravens by a final score of 9-0, Tuesday evening at Reavis Stadium.
With the victory, the Tigers improved to 6-3, while Anderson dropped to 4-4.
The game was scoreless through the opening 19 minutes before Julian Gonzalez ripped a shot that found the back of the net in the 20th minute. Mitch Tabler would tally the Tigers' second goal on an assist from Nick Williams in the 25th minute.
Jack Cornelo scored his first collegiate goal on an assist from Zach Hoffman in the 36th minute to extend DePauw's lead to three. Tabler rounded out the scoring in the first half with a goal just three minutes later on an assist from Chase Rollins.
Gonzalez would notch his second goal of the contest in the 50th minute to put the Tigers up 5-0. Eight minutes later Andy Morrison got a piece of the action when he scored on an assist from Taras Tataryn. Hoffman netted his first goal of the season on an unassisted strike in the 69th minute.
Sophomore Rhiley McIntire scored his first two collegiate goals late in the contest, putting DePauw up 9-0. Rollins provided an assist on the first goal in the 76th minute, while Keagan Angevin grabbed an assist on McIntire's goal in the 88th minute.
DePauw's nine goals are the most scored since 2006 and the first nine-goal output since their 2004 match against Millsaps.
The Tigers held a 30-15 advantage on shots and a 13-0 edge on corner kicks. Chris Yount made six saves in goal for the Tigers, while the trio of Nathan Wadley, Ben Lapham and Brandon Weer combined for 14 saves in the loss.
DePauw returns to North Coast Athletic Conference action Saturday, September 27, when they travel to take on the 2nd-ranked Kenyon Lords. This pivotal NCAC showdown is scheduled for a noon start.
