Box Score Hiram, Ohio- The DePauw women's soccer team opened up North Coast Athletic Conference play Saturday night against Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio. Each team score twice in regulation, but neither squad could push across a goal in overtime, resulting in a 2-2 tie.
DePauw moves to 2-4-1 overall and 0-0-1 in NCAC play, while Hiram is now 3-3-1 on the year and 0-0-1 in the NCAC.
It was the Tigers who grabbed the momentum in the first half as Stephanie Martin scored in the 22nd minute on an assist from Chloe Jacob. Caroline Zadina tallied DePauw's second goal in the 32nd minute on an assist from Jacob and Martin.
Trailing 2-0, Hiram turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, scoring just five minutes into the period when Allie Glatt fired a shot into the back of the net. The Terriers were able to tie the contest on a goal with just 2:02 left on Alison Cowell's unassisted goal.
Both teams had limited opportunities in the overtime sessions, but Hiram goalie, Kailie Reed, and DePauw goalie, Sarah Cho, each made key saves to preserve the tie.
The Terriers outshot the Tigers 23-15, while both teams attempted six corner kicks. DePauw's Emma Cooper made five saves before exiting due to an injury. Cho grabbed four saves in relief, while Reed grabbed six saves for Hiram.
DePauw is back in action Saturday, September 27, when they host Kenyon starting at noon.
