15th-ranked DePauw Outshoots Kenyon, but Ladies Take 2-1 NCAC Win

Gambier, Ohio - DePauw tooks its number-15 national ranking to Kenyon in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both schools, but Kenyon overcame an early deficit to take a 2-1 victory over the Tigers.

The loss was DePauw's first in five tries this season, while Kenyon improved to 4-1.

DePauw struck first as Addie Ball rattled the cage nearly 16 minutes into the contest on an assist from Paige Henry. Despite nearly tripling Kenyon in shots, that would be the only goal the Tigers would score.

The Ladies knotted the score at 1-1 as Weezie Foster scored off a corner from Julie Freeman. Rachel Hall scored the eventual game winner with just 51 seconds left in the half off another penalty corner from Sammy Johnston.

DePauw held a 22-8 advantage in shots including 13-4 in shots on goal. The Tigers also held a narrow 11-10 margin in penalty corners.

Tigers goalie Maggie Steele only recorded two saves. while the Ladies' Sarah Speroff turned away 12 shots.

DePauw returns to action tomorrow with an 11 a.m. NCAC contest at Denison.
