DePauw Splits Saturday Matches

Rome, Ga. - DePauw opened the 2014 season at the Berry College Invitational and splits its first two matches. The Tigers blanked Agnes Scott 3-0 (25-5, 25-8, 25-13) before losing to Berry 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 12-25, 27-25).

In the Agnes Scott match, the Tigers hit .409 including .682 in the opening set and totaled 44 kills paced by Mary Kate Etling with 10. Faith Rolwes assisted on 31 of those kills, while Keely McGrath led the way with 16 digs. Emily Beckes totaled a team-best four service aces as the Tigers totaled nine. Elisabeth Wilson added three blocks.

The Tigers dropped the opening two sets to Berry before winning the third. They knotted the score at 25-25 in the fourth, but the hosts scored the final two points for the win. 

Etling led DePauw with 16 kills and a .417 attack percentage, while Rolwes had 38 assists. McGrath and Beckes finished with 12 digs each and Wilson had three blocks.

DePauw faces Lynchburg and second-ranked Emory tomorrow.
