Mackey's Pole Vault Title and Three other All-Conference Finishes Highlights DePauw's Opening Day at NCAC Championships

Oberlin, Ohio - Paced by Kyle Mackey's pole vault win and three other all-conference performances, DePauw is in third place after the first day of competition at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.

The Tigers totaled 38 points, while Wabash leads with 105 and Ohio Wesleyan is second with 60.

Mackey, the 2012 outdoor champion and 2013 runner-up, cleared 15-5 (4.70m) for the win. Aaron Krabill was sixth in the event at 13-11.25 (4.25m).

Amen Galley took second in the long jump with a best mark of 22-4.5 (6.82m), while Marcus Dozier was third in the shot put at 49-6.5 (15.10m) and the discus with a top throw of 158-4 (48.25). Dozier was just .01 meters out of second and trailed the winner by only ,71 meters. 

Paul Watts placed fourth in the 10,000-meter run in 31:39.76.

Qualifying for Saturday's finals were Brian Mincks and Mike Bennett in the 800 meters after finishing third (1:57.44) and sixth (1:57.02), respectively, in the prelims.

Saturday's field events get underway at 10 a.m., while the running events start at 2:15.
